Top 10 Ways to Keep Your iPhone Secure

Here are some of the ways that you can make sure that all of the data that you have in your iPhone are secure and are not at risk of getting stolen in any way:

Update Firmware
Your best bet for iPhone security is an updated firmware to make sure that you have all the protection that you need from previous bugs and virus attacks that were recorded before.
Connect iPhone to your computer > Open iTunes > Choose iPhone in the source list > Choose Check For Update > Download and install the updates.

Disable Wi-Fi
It is great to be connected all the time but if you are not actively using it, it is better to just disconnect from it. It is more secure for your phone too!
Settings > Wi-Fi > Turn off Wi-Fi.

Disable Automatic Connections
Your battery gets drained easily if your iPhone is constantly searching for networks. Just turn it off and manually connect when you need to.
Settings > Wi-Fi > Choose network > Choose Forget This Network.

Disable Bluetooth
Bluetooth is great for sharing files but it is not good if you do not want to share your files with others in the room.
Settings > General > Bluetooth > Turn off Bluetooth.

Disable Location Services
While you want to be visible to your friends and family even if when you are mobile, location services drain your battery and most of the time, you don’t really need it.
Settings > General > Turn off Location Services.

Set Your Pass Code
If you have passwords on your computer and your email accounts, then your iPhone should have it too.
Settings > General > Pass Code Lock > Type in 4 digits to serve as your pass code > Re-type the 4 digits.

Erase Data After a Number of Wrong Pass Codes
Some people may attempt to guess your pass code. Beat them to it by enabling your iPhone to erase the data after 10 wrong pass code attempts.
Settings > General > Pass Code Lock > Turn on Erase Data.

Erase Data Before Repairing, Returning, or Reselling Your iPhone
It is quite obvious that you have to clean out your phone before you hand it over to someone else. You wouldn’t want someone else to know a lot of stuff about you, don’t you?
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings.

Disable SMS Preview
There is an option to view the text messages that are sent to you in the notification area. If you turn it off, it adds more security to your phone while your phone is locked.
Settings > General > Pass Code Lock > Turn off Show SMS Preview.

Disable Java Script and Safari Plug Ins
Optimum web browsing experience will need Java Script and Plug Ins. However, these increase the risk of your phone getting hacked at some point. It is best to just disable them when you do not entirely need them.
Settings > Safari > Turn off Java Script > Turn off Plug Ins.

The Original Macintosh Reviewed - 2012

The Original Macintosh Review
Released in 1984, the Macintosh redefined the personal computer in so many ways. Retailing for under $2,500, the easy to use Mac made reviewers and consumers alike get very excited about this system and what computing can be.

The size
A “small” computer, the Mac was 14” tall and took up about as much desk space as a standard piece of office paper. An optional carrying case was available, making the Mac seem like a potentially portable machine, even though it should be noted that the Macintosh and its case weighed a combined 22 pounds.

Original Macintosh
The software
There was much excitement about the software for the new Mac. The MacWrite program was particular exciting. MacWrite was a word processor that finally let users change the font size and style of the type both on the screen and on paper when printed out. Users could also use bold, underline, italic, or shadow print text.

MacPaint was also impressive, as this was the first time users were able to use the mouse as a paint brush to “draw” on the screen. Mac users could design letterhead or create art, and these images could be integrated into MacWrite documents.

The Printer
While not necessarily a part of the system, Mac’s Image Writer Printer was quite exciting when coupled with the new Mac. This was the first time users were able to actually print what they saw on the screen. If they composed a document in Old English font in bold face in 22 point size, that is what would come out of the new $495 printer.

Experience
Apple drew on their experience, drawing the best features from their previous failures, such as the Lisa. The Lisa brought the mouse, and the Mac thankfully brought this pointing device back and revolutionized computing. Also the high resolution black and white display allowed for detailed pictures and crisp text, and this again was something modeled after the Lisa.

Ease of Use
The Macintosh was so well received and well-loved because use users easily learned to use it. Apple said that novices would be able to learn how to use the Mac in 30 minutes or less, and many users were able to do just that. People loved the simplicity of a computer, a device which previously seemed too complicated for many.

When a new Mac would be set up, the first power up with the main system disk would bring up an introductory screen and the desktop. The icons that we now take for granted were revolutionary then, and they made it so much easier for users to do things with their computer.

And more…

These are just some of the reasons why the new Macintosh was so well received by critics and consumers in 1984. There weren’t any downsides to the Mac, even though many thought the system’s inability to run MS-DOS may be the only issue with this system. Not just competitive with other systems of the time, the Macintosh was head and shoulders above the competition.

Build Your iPhone App the Easy Way

Providing an iPhone app is one of the easiest ways to connect with your customers, no matter where they are. Whether you simply want to provide contact information or want a dynamic alternative to your website, consumers will appreciate a mobile app. But what do you do if you don't have the programming knowledge to create your own app? Fortunately, tools exist to help you create that app, even without coding knowledge. The services on this list will help you to create apps both beautiful and functional.

Mobile Roadie

While most app builders offer templates that your consumers will easily recognize, Mobile Roadie lets you create something unique. With this service, you can create one app for both iPhone and Android devices, saving you some effort. Mobile Roadie offers some unique features, like the ability to build a webcam into your app for today's newest devices, like the iPad, that have a front-facing camera.

Once you create your app, the service gives you a QR code and custom shortened URL to promote it. Your own users can help spread the word via Twitter or Facebook, too. Mobile Roadie offers a basic account for $99 per month, and this includes help to submit your app to app stores. Features like an advanced design package will double your cost, but they're not necessary. All possible features will cost you $499 per month.

Seattle Clouds

Seattle Clouds might sound like a weather prediction, but it's actually another utility to help you build your perfect app. You choose from pre-made templates, from maps to an image gallery, so most businesses will find their perfect app. You then edit the text, photos and other content within the template to reflect the individuality of your needs. The sheer number of unique templates is one of the strengths of this tool.

Once finished, Seattle Clouds helps you to publish the app to the iTunes store, Google Play and even the Amazon App Store. This is good news if you want to target users of the Kindle Fire. There is an initial $99 setup fee for most app types. Monthly hosting then starts at $9.99 per month for a single app, which makes this a little more cost effective than other solutions. Seattle Clouds requires you to upgrade to the $49.99 per month plan if you want push notifications and in-app purchases, however.

SwebApps

The final app tool on this list has a pretty smart layout itself. The slick graphics promise you the perfect app for your needs. SwebApp does things a little differently, however. You can choose to create a basic app for either Android or iOS for a lower price than developing one for both platforms. A single platform starts at $399, while you'll increase your costs to $499 for both. You'll have to pay monthly hosting fees of $29 and $39, respectively. Extra features, like an app tracker, will cost you more. Professionally, "polished" apps for a single app have a much higher overhead of $1799.

Features are more basic than other tools on this list; however, your app will look native to the platform. Most features are available for either OS, and you can choose from maps, forms and audio input, among other content. Users can share your content via email and social networks.

Apple iPad Projection Technology Is Here

The iPad is changing the way we do business and there are always new improvements on the horizon for the next generation. For the upcoming iPad, the ability to project the screen is a major desire and it looks like it's going to become a reality.

iPad ProjectionProjection is Here

The Pico Pocket Projector is definitely the next big thing to hit the iPad. For years, people have been using large projectors and laptops for presentations, but they are bulky and difficult to take everywhere. The iPad has the ability to create and read PowerPoint, PDF and other documents. Everyone has had to use bulky projectors but not with the Pico Pocket Projector. It's a pin-sized dynamo able to connect to your iPad and provide high definition graphics to your presentation. It's small enough to fit in a small case with your iPad, so there is no lugging around large briefcases filled with cords and machinery. The setup is a snap and only takes a few seconds and has long battery life.

Wired Up for Sound

Projectors will be the next big thing in graphics for the iPad, but could we see a version of Siri in the future for audio? It's entirely possible, but it's more likely that we'll see apps and voice commands taking center stage. You'll be launching apps, setting up meetings and even dictation through the voice command systems on the iPad. The beefed up microphone will enhance not only voice command interface, but also video chats and other applications. Along with the technology update, voice command will require software that can either be downloaded via iTunes or will come as standard. This software will be tuned to the individual's voice so that it can correctly tune out the rest of the noise. For example, if you are in a busy street and need to make a dictation or open an app, the software will be able to pick out your voice even if you are surrounded by other voices.

Look – No Hands

Hands-free voice control has long been a dream of developers and the iPhone is the closest the industry has come. It's only natural that the phone would be the first place for hands-free control with the iPad to follow.

The next big thing for the iPad is definitely going to be the ability to easily project the screen and a better voice recognition. It will require better tech and software to maximize performance for these advancements including the Pico Pocket Projector. But there is lots of time before the next version of iPad comes out for plenty of advancement.

Author: Jack Rasmussen couldn't be more excited about the prospect of integrating an iPad with a projector. Which is why he started a website, ipadprojector.org, to explain and compare different external projectors while blogging about the future of mobile projection.Read our guidelines to be aGuest Author at TechGau.Org

iOS 6: The Anticipated Bandwagon Of Apple’s OS

The World Wide Developers Conference is rife with rumors about the speculated sixth generation OS. The conference is days away, and with the iPhone 5 unlikely to be releasing that time, the world would see the emergence of iOS 6. The technology blog GottaBeMobile stated that the new software would be available in the iPhone 4S and new iPad. It would soon be rolling out in the heavily anticipated new iPad mini.

iOS: Operating System of Apple, Inc.
iOS is the operating system by Apple, Inc. Released in 2007 for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. Today, the operating system has extended its usage to iPad, and the Apple TV. Apple does not license the iOS. Based on the concept of direct manipulation and multi-touch gestures, the interface control elements that consist of switches, buttons and sliders, interaction can be done with gestures such as swipe, pinch, reverse, or tap as they have specific definitions. Derived from the OS X, it shares the foundation with Darwin and has an operating system Unix.

      iOS 6

Rumors surrounding the iOS 6

The rumor mill has not stopped contemplating even though Apple is pretty secretive about the features of iOS 6. Apple, Inc. is a killer company, and with the recent success of Apple PC computing platform, the functionality features of iOS 6 would be all cherry picked. There were loads of inputs of the list of features that we all wish for Apple to include in its new launch.

First reported by BGR, the iOS 6 will be a substantial shift from the UI theme. The original blue and blue stripes would be now silver, much like the iPad. A cleaner svelte look, it is the new mantra for Apple to lead the way and to let the apps do the talking. This list was compiled after scouring the Apple enthusiastic blogs.

  • Multiple users on iPad: One of the unofficial Apple blog, Tuaw has suggested multiple users on iPad. A nifty feature, this would enable the tablet-sharing homes with the ability to set up multiple user accounts on the portable device. The multiple iPad owners can share the device without fear of friends and families accidently erasing the vital data. The writer Michael Grothaus also pointed that using iCloud, iTunes Match, the users of the device need not worry about the hard drive filling up, and the users can comfortably access the documents via Cloud.
  • Notification based actions: Some creative author thought about Apple incorporating location based profiles. With the already established GeoFencing, this is not an impossible feat, though a bit far stretched! The phone could customize different actions like ringtones, Bluetooth etc. based on the location of the owner. A silencing time-based feature can also be added.
  • Better cursor navigation, which would make typing on the iPad pleasant.
  • Widgets: Android is firmly on the widget wagon and it’s time for Apple to board the same. The widgets would provide faster access to settings of the smartphones and their controls.
  • Integration of Facebook: Facebook is available in iOS 5 via the official app, the users cannot upload or share any content without first refreshing the app. This is a hindrance especially if there is no solid connectivity.
  • Multiple apps are functioning together: The users can run four applications by minimizing and using them conjointly with each other.
  • 3D maps
  • Expanded Siri functions
  • Feasible inter-app communication
  • Unified omnibox and improved email
  • Automatic updates of the application
  • iCloud keychain that sync with other iOS devices and computers.

For the iPhone Application Development, the iOS is loaded with features. The rumors have started to pile-up, but that is what they actually are, just rumors. The list discussed above is certainly likeable and desirable; we all have to wait until the conference to see what happens.

Author Bio: Aditi Biswas is a content writer with Maketick, Inc. The recent clamoring about the launch of iOS 6 has had made her write about the speculated features of the operating system. Although, she understands that all features are just things that we want to see in it, she believes that it would change the approach towards the iPhone Application Development.

Top 5 iPhone Apps to Help Improve Grades

Modern technology has revolutionized the way people do everything, including how they study. Now students can improve their grades by using iPhone apps that are specifically designed to help with studying. Here are the top five iPhone apps that can directly benefit students.

1. iStudiez Pro

This app is a quintessential organizer application specifically designed for students trying to balance a busy academic schedule. This app not only helps a student maintain a calendar of assignments and classes, but it also can be used as a central hub for recording grades, prioritizing assignments and planning study sessions. Syncing the information across multiple platforms allows students to update their information from their computer or mobile device to ensure they are constantly keeping up with their course work.

2. Outliner

The endless creation of notes and collected information can quickly become disorganized and difficult to use. With the Outliner app, students can feed all of their data into a personal cloud so that the information is efficiently organized. The beauty of Outliner is that information can be fed into it from any web enabled device for streamlined review on a home computer, but the cloud of information is also portable because Outliner is accessible from the iPhone.

3. Genius Scan

Now students can create direct copies of information detailed through visual aids in class simply by photographing it with their iPhone. The advantage to using this application over simply taking a photo is that perspective and other image edits can be adjusted so that pictures taken from indirect vantage points will still yield highly usable references later. The images can then be saved to PDF for printing or computer storage. This app is also useful when consulting reference books that cannot be removed because now a personal printable copy can be made right from the iPhone.

4. Mental Case Flashcards

The repetitive practice associated with flashcards is a proven way to memorize concepts and facts, but the time it takes to make usable flashcards can be impractical. Now with this easy to use app, students can efficiently make clear and useful flashcards in a fraction of the time it takes to make them by hand. The best part is that the giant stack of finished flashcards can be taken everywhere on the iPhone.

5. Course Specific Apps

The needs of different courses vary and so do the applications that are specifically tailored to those needs. Apps like Algebra Touch, Brain Tutor 3D, and World offer subject-specific learning aids that help students to find more detailed explanations and demonstrations of course material. This kind of app eliminates wasted time searching the web and allows for more focused study time.

Technology is a great tool for learning when it is used to help a student study. By employing these apps, a student is able to study more effectively. Improved organization can also lead to a higher GPA when students are able to carry with them their entire set of resources for studying simply by using the storage capacity of an iPhone to accumulate and organize the needed material. Computers are improving information sharing, and smarter students are finding more creative ways to use the iPhone.

Apple iOS Security Guide Released - Download

Apple has never been a company to release its OS secrets to the public, hence in a surprising move, Apple has revealed the inherent security features installed in the iOS.Apple has always kept its technological updates and development under wraps, fearing of intellectual property theft or the discovering of loopholes in its software by "curious" tech-savvy people. With the release of the new Apple iOS security guide, I am sure that there will be some compromise in the security as people will find some ways to disturb a well set security system. Some experts in the field believe that the Apple iOS guidelines reveal very little new information and that there was still a lot kept under the wraps.

The Security Guide gives much needed insight into the working of Operating system, which Businesses and Developers (especially) can use to improve the quality of their work. The reason why Apple has released the Security Guide seems to be to educate application developers to develop secure and safe apps that meet the Apple Security Guidelines.

Here are some of the topics described by the Apple iOS security guide -
  • System architecture: The secure platform and hardware foundations of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
  • Encryption and Data Protection: The design features which protects the secure information of the owner of the Apple device when the device is lost or ended up in the wrong hands.
  • Network security: Heavy duty networking protocols, secure authentication and encryption of data in transmission.
  • Device access: A feature that allows the device to be remotely erased of all data, so that the information does not end up being misused by someone.

Aaron Sorkin, the winner of a coveted Oscar for screenplay in the movie, The Social Network, is now set to write the screenplay for the Steve Jobs Movie, which will concentrate on the early days of Steve Jobs and his beloved Apple Inc.Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, titled Steve Jobs, has been adopted for the Movie by Sony Pictures.

Sony’s co-chairman Amy Pascal had this to say about Aaron Sorkin -
There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin; in his hands, we’re confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was: captivating, entertaining, and polarizing.
Although  Aaron Sorkin has been making the news for the Steve Jobs movie by Sony, it is not the only movie that is being filmed about the Apple CEO.Another film titled as - Jobs: Get Inspired, featuring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs started filming earlier this week.

Aaron Sorkin seems to like the modern day rulers of the world, such as Facebook and Apple, cause he seems to love to work in Movies dedicated to such big influences on the world.

The two Steve Jobs' Movies will battle it out, but I am sure both will portray the greatness and hard-work of Steve Jobs.

Jobs: Get Inspired will release in the last quarter of 2012, while the Sony Movie has not yet got a release date. But will probably be out a few months after the Ashton Kutcher Movie.

I am sure all Tech Lovers will be waiting enthusiastically for these two movies to release.

iPhone 5 Design And Looks - Liquid Metal [PICS]

One of our guest authors recently wrote about the iPhone 5 rumors, in which he stated that the iPhone 5 would have a 4 Inch Screen. Now looking at the pics of what the iPhone 5 might look like, we can clearly say that the iPhone 5 will have 4.0 Inch Screen.

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be coming later this year, with an official announcement expected in the first or second week of June around Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference.

Rumors have stated the the iPhone 5 may be made out of liquid metal, a mixture of many different metals in certain specified proportions to make the iPhone 5 stronger, lighter, thinner and more durable (This is something that Samsung needs to learn, all their phones seem plasticky, even the Galaxy S3 which is said to be made of Ceramic material).

The iPhone 5 Design and Looks Pictures were designed by an artist called Jon Fawcett, he is in no way affiliated to Apple or iPhone Brands.

Measuring at 4.14″ x 2.25″ in dimensions, Fawcett’s concept phone is just 7mm thick (That is incredible) and has a 4-inch widescreen multitouch display. The phone has a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel forward-facing cam(A little too much hopes for the front camera) for video chatting, and quad speakers for listening to tunes or watching videos in both portrait and landscape mode.

iPhone 5 Rumors: 4 Inch Screen - Smaller Dock Connector

You don't have to look around many Apple rumor sites to see that there is a large amount of speculation out there as to how the next iPhone will look. The iPhone 5 Apples next venture into the smartphone market will have to see a pretty big jump in specs as Apple's phones are starting to look aged compared to its competition the HTC ONE X and the Samsung Galaxy SIII. The iPhone 5 rumoured to have a 4 inch screen and smaller dock connector.

iPhone 5 Rumors: 4 Inch Screen - Smaller Dock Connector

One of the strongest looking rumours sites as of late is iLounge this site has got a trusted source who has told iLounge about the next iPhones features. Their source has given them information on the size and dimensions of the phone, the size of the screen as well as the latest upgrade to the dock connector.
The rumours about the screen are that it will be stretched to a bigger 4 inch from the current 3.5 inches this is to compete with the larger screened phones out there. The only issue with this is that the aspect ratio of the screen will have to be changed as well so the previous apps and icons still work with the new phone.

In iLounge's article they also state the new dimensions that they have been told that the new iPhone will be made to, these are in the quote from iLounge below:
What we’ve learned: the new iPhone will indeed be longer and thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Approximate measurements are 125mm by 58.5mm by 7.4mm—a 10mm jump in height, nearly 2mm reduction in thickness, and virtually identical width. According to our source, Apple will make one major change to the rear casing, adding a metal panel to the central back of the new iPhone. This panel will be flat, not curved, and metal, not ceramic. Our artist’s rendition provides a rough idea of what this change will look like, it echoes the current-generation iMac design, to be sure.
The other major change that iLounge related in its article was a change to the famous Apple dock connector. The dock connector is reportedly going to get smaller in the new versions of Apple's products. This means that it will take up less space on the device and have fewer pins in it.

These updates are meant to come out in September or October time along with Apple’s replacement of Google maps and the widely rumoured 7 inch iPad.

7 Inch iPad To Be Released in October 2012, Price Details

7 Inch iPad To Be Released in October 2012, Price DetailsReports from PCMag.com and iMore are pointing towards a new Apple iPad, a 7 Inch Mini iPad to be precise. These reports are said to be from reliable sources working inside the Gadget giant Apple.7 Inch iPad To Be Released in October 2012.

The price of the new Mini 7-Inch iPad would be around 200-250$, this is very surprising as the iPad Mini is said to have all the same features as the iPad but only with lesser internal storage, that is of 8GB.It is even expected to sport a 2048-by-1536 resolution display, just like the new iPad.At this rate, the Mini iPad will sell a lot more than the normal iPad, so Apple needs to be careful with what they are playing with.

This seems to be an effort by Apple to directly take the Samsung Galaxy Tablet out of the game, among other smaller sized tablets.A 200$ Apple iPad would sell well and hence put the market share of the other Tablets to all time lows, but as is this field, each and every new company will come up with something new to challenge the rest of the companies. This was the case with the Samsung 10.1 Inch Galaxy Tab.

Similar reports from Japan state that the new Mini iPad will have a screen of 7.85 Inches. Both these reports have not been confirmed but we can be sire that if the Apple iPad Mini is released, it will have a screen of around 7-8 Inches to compete in the smaller tablet market.
