See How Your Website Looks on Different Devices And Screen Sizes

While designing a website, it is important to see how your website looks on different devices and not just on the computer or laptop that you are using. Not all people have the same specifications and screen sizes such as your device and hence the website may appear differently to them.Sometimes the images of text may be distorted or you may not be happy with the way your website looks on different devices, so you need to regularly check the way your site appears on different devices as well as different screen resolutions (sizes).

There are several tools available on the internet for you to do this, we have selected three of the best which give the option of seeing how your website looks on different devices such as a Apple iPad, iPhone, different smart phones, Television, Different Tablets and a wide variety of screen resolutions.
The tools below are very useful for webmasters, bloggers and most importantly to professional web designers.

See How Your Website Looks on Different Device And Screen Sizes -

1) mattkersley.com/responsive - This website offers you a good look at how your website looks in different screen resolutions from widths of 240 pixels to 1024 pixels. They also offer a good selection of devices on which you can see how your website or blog appears.

2) responsinator.com - This website is my favorite tool to see how a website looks on different devices, it shows cool shaded figures of the devices you are previewing in, I have included a picture below as an example.I recommend this tool over the other two.

3) quirktools.com/screenfly/ - This tool is my second favorite of the lot and is very useful as it provides some options that is not found in the others, such as seeing how your website would appear on a television screen, on different tablets and a wide variety of smart phones.

Using tools such as these, you can design your website better and make a better experience for your readers and visitors.

Top 8 E-Commerce Sites of 2011

There has never been a time when more people were doing their shopping online. Online stores have long since shed the stigma that internet shopping was not secure and that it was difficult for a casual web user to complete a transaction. This is in thanks to a great number of companies that have embraced e-commerce and spent the time developing platforms that are user-friendly and which protect customer information.

Innovations in shopping cart software, an influx of developers offering small business ecommerce solutions, and companies specializing in e-commerce have made online shopping effortless and a daily experience for most.

However, as in any business market, there are those companies that simply outperform the others. The following eight businesses have maximized their use of e-commerce platforms and have created some of the best selling environments on the web. Here are the top 8 e-commerce sites of 2011 according to the MarketLive Merchant Awards.

8.  French Toast (www.frenchtoast.com)
French Toast is a leading provider of school uniforms and maintains a highly efficient ecommerce website.  Using the shopping cart platform, they make shopping for school uniforms a truly user friendly and familiar experience.

7.  Neutrogena (www.neutrogena.com)
Neutrogena is a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of beauty and skin care products. Their website also has one of the top conversion rates on the web. If you are researching e-commerce platforms, make sure you visit Neutrogena’s site.

6.  Title Nine (www.titlenine.com)
As a leading apparel retailer for active women, Title Nine understands what kind of promotion and design it takes to attract customers and motivate a purchase.

5.  H2O Plus (www.h2oplus.com)
If you have been to the mall lately, I am sure you have seen all the kiosks dedicated to marine skincare. This market is growing rapidly and H2O Plus has been able to set up an ecommerce platform on their website that has encouraged return visits and repeat sales.

4.  Ulla Popken (www.ullapopken.com)
Ulla Popken is the second women’s apparel website to appear on this list. But unlike Title Nine, Ulla Popken designs and sells clothes for plus-size women, and they do it extremely well. By utilizing search engine marketing and social media marketing, Ulla Popken has built a highly recognizable ecommerce brand.

3.  Francesca’s Collections (www.francescascollections.com)
The top three starts off with another women’s apparel website, but Francesca’s Collection adds a bit of spice to the mix. As an up-and-coming site, Francesca’s Collection has a lot of competition, but they have been able to maximize their marketing to target women looking for more eclectic items. Their original clothes, jewelry, and accessories are offered through an easy-to-use shopping cart platform and their “wish list” functionality makes it easy for friends and family to shop for them, as well as bringing potential new customers to the site.

2.  Armani Exchange (www.armaniexchange.com)
The second best e-commerce site of 2011 goes to Armani Exchange. This site is a lot different than the others on this list. It utilizes e-commerce software with a shopping cart platform, but the presentation is slick with rich content. The site also has a great mobile platform to target the growing segment on the population that are shopping online on-the-go.

1.     Totes >> ISOTONER (www.totes-isotoner.com)
The top e-commerce site on our list is the one run by Totes >> ISOTONER. They are the world’s largest marketer of gloves, umbrellas, slippers, and other weather-related accessories. The website’s e-commerce platform utilizes colorful and clear pictures of their products, discounts are clearly labeled, and filling your basket and checking out is smooth and easy.

The companies on this list have set the bar for e-commerce. Whether they have developed proprietary e-commerce platforms or utilized those available to the public, such as the Miva Merchant shopping cart platform, what sets them apart is a clear vision of their products and their target market.

Pirate Bay To Host Its Servers In The Sky

Every internet user at some point in their lives would have come across "The Pirate Bay", such is the influence of the file sharing website.Pirate Bay is planning to build robot drones to host its servers in the sky, here is the official statement -

With the development of GPS controlled drones, far-reaching cheap radio equipment and tiny new computers like the Raspberry Pi, we’re going to experiment with sending out some small drones that will float some kilometers up in the air.
This seems to be a new way to avoid the law from catching up to the Pirate Bay website, recently we saw another effort by The Pirate Bay to do the same, by shifting their domain name to .se (Switzerland), where the cyber laws are a little more relaxed.

Junglee - The Indian Amazon Online Shopping Site

Junglee is the new Indian version of Amazon, by Amazon creators. This new e-commerce site has been set up by Amazon, particularly to compete with Flipkart, which has been stealing all the market share of Amazon in India, through many of its benefits.

Junglee Amazon Indian Shopping

But Junglee, the new site does not yet seem to have anywhere near the ability required to overcome Flipkart as you cannot directly buy products from Junglee, you will be redirected to different sellers websites who are responsible for shipping as well as refunds Etc.

This system has a basic flaw as there are many sites which do not even have customer service that are advertising on Junglee, basically it is like a Yellow Pages for advertising your products.

What is Flipkart Wallet feature?

Flipkart Wallet

Flipkart has introduced a new feature called the "Wallet".This is just like an online wallet that you would own.In this new Flipkart feature you are required to input some money as a "Prepaid Balance" like how you would do on your Mobile Phones and then you can use this money in the future to make any payments on orders to Flipkart.

Flipkart Wallet new Feature

Who should use this feature?
Those people who regularly buy from Flipkart can use this tool to its full potential. If you are a one-time buyer or you rarely buy items from Flipkart, then you probably would not want to use this feature.

If you buy regularly from Flipkart, this can save you time since you only need to make a payment once and you can keep using it till it runs out.

What is the use of this feature for Flipkart?
Once you put in some money, you are restricted to buy from Flipkart, this loyalty that the Wallet brings is important to e-commerce sites.

Flipkart probably also uses this money as an investment, perhaps?Well the jury is out on that.
