Jenni Lake, Idaho Teen, Loses Cancer Fight After Delivering Son

"She told the nurse, `I'm done, I did what I was supposed to. My baby is going to get here safe,'" said Diana Phillips, Jenni's mother.

These were the last words of one of the bravest real life heroes, Jenni Lake.

Jenni Lake was an 17 year old Pregnant Teenager who fought social obligations and also her Brain Tumor before delivering the child. Jenni Lake knew that if shew postponed the treatment of her brain and spinal chord tumor for the purpose of delivering the baby, it would have fatal consequences. But she did anyway, to save the life of her unborn child.

In photographs, the baby's ruddy cheeks and healthy weight offer a stark contrast to the frail girl who gave birth to him. She holds the newborn tightly, kissing the top of his head. Jenni, at 5 feet and 4 inches tall, weighed only 108 pounds at the full term of her pregnancy.

Jenni started dating Nathan a couple of weeks before she received her diagnosis. Their adolescent relationship withstood the very adult test posed by cancer, the treatments that left her barely able to walk from her living room to her bedroom, and the gossip at school and the rumors that Nathan was only with her as she had cancer, her older sister Ashley however tried to stop these rumors from spreading, but unfortunately she could not do so.

Rest In Peace Jenni.
