Ways To Market Your Company on Facebook

The importance of marketing cannot be emphasized strongly enough. As a result, many businesses have their own marketing department, which will take care of advertising, market research and other promotional activities. If a company and its products or services are not properly marketed, then the chances of people getting to know about them are limited. As a result, sales will also be limited, and hence a business may vary likely risk to close down eventually.

The Importance of Online Marketing
There are countless marketing methods used by businesses. Lately, the internet has dominated these marketing endeavors, as many more people can be targeted online nowadays. As a result, there are several internet marketing techniques that one can make use of. Social networking sites are some of the most effective and popular possibilities. This is mainly due to the fact that many people nowadays make use of such sites on a daily basis. Facebook and Twitter are the most popular ones. Many businesses set up their own page so as to attract loyal customers and prospective, new customers, to join them. Let us discuss some ways to market your Facebook company page.

Facebook Company Pages
Thanks to a Facebook page a business can practically have a secondary website. The best thing about it is that updates, such as news, feeds and posts, will be automatically uploaded to the friends' walls, if they have joined the page. Hence, the effort is not to remind people of the company, but rather to have people get to know about the page, and entice them to join it.

Advertising on Facebook
In order to do so, there are quite a few methods that can be put into practice. The easiest one is to advertise on Facebook itself. This can be done by paying for an advert that will be shown on one side of the screen along with a few other adverts. It is very important that such an advert is made to be as appealing and as eye-catching as possible. The more it stands out, the more people will be made to click on it. Upon clicking, they will be led to the company's Facebook page, which should also be made equally appealing, so as to encourage them to join. Links should also be placed on the company's website, and on any related forums or blogs.

One of the drawbacks of Facebook adverts is that they are small, and so the content has to be very limited. Therefore one should choose an innovative visual aid, and a few interesting words, so as to make an impact. Having said that, Facebook provides the possibility to target a niche market with the adverts. Thus, you will be able to specify the types of clients that will be more attracted to the firm and its products or services. This could be a geographic, gender, age or other preference.

Mention Your Facebook Presence in Other Advertising
Besides making use of these adverts, it is also crucial to make sure that you include the Facebook sign in any merchandise you have and in any adverts you make on other media. So, if you are printing a brochure, a leaflet, or an advert on a newspaper or magazine, make sure that you mention that you are present on Facebook. Encourage viewers or readers to look up your page and join you.

This practice should be given importance in various activities. You should also try to include this fact on the product's packaging or label if possible. If you have any merchandise, you should also try to include it.

Competitons and Promotional Ideas
Another effective way is by introducing promotional ideas that will attract more visitors. Common methods include competitions where those who join will get in the chance of winning something, or else distributing vouchers or attractive discounts to all your followers. These methods are gaining a lot of popularity since many people tend to join a page so as to receive something in return.

Interaction is Key
It is also a good idea to encourage those who join to share your links, photos, videos and other uploads with their friends. The "like" and "share" possibilities on Facebook should be made use of as they can be a very effective way of increasing your views, and as a result getting more people to join your page. It is also important to link your page with other companies' pages which are in some way related to your line of business. In such a way, their friends, may eventually also become your friends.

By making use of these ways to market your Facebook page you will manage to increase your followers quite easily. The key is to be innovative and to make use of effective methods and propaganda techniques that can attract people's attention.

Good luck to all with their Facebook marketing efforts!

Facebook thinks that the Timeline is the greatest achievement in the history of Social Networks, but not all the people like the Facebook Timeline and hence want to remove it from their account. The process of removing the Facebook Timeline is different for different browsers, today I will discuss How To Remove Facebook Timeline For Google Chrome? as Google Chrome is one of the best and popular browsers out of the many different browsers.

There are two ways by which you can Remove Facebook Timeline For Google Chrome, one of them is a very simple way of using a Google Chrome extension to do the job of removing Facebook timeline. The other is a more complex method to achieve the same thing, I recommend the first way, but if it does not work, then use the second method.

Use this extension for Google Chrome, this instantly removes the timeline from Facebook when you are using Facebook through your Google Chrome browser. You can always disable the add-on in your browser tools and hence getting back the Facebook Timeline even on Google Chrome.

Facebook Browser?

Facebook BrowserLately there has been a lot of browser wars, with different companies trying to out-do the other when it comes to their trademark browsers, we saw the release of Yahoo! Axis, which wants to compete with true browser giants such as Google Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

More and more online giants seem to be understanding the potential that a browser holds and hence are looking to put themselves in the market.

Facebook seems to also be interested in the browser race. There have been rumors fluttering around on Twitter that Facebook Might Buy Opera Mini, which has over 200 Million users world-wide.Facebook seems to want to start with Mobile Browsers, if this deal goes through, we can expect Facebook To look to get a full fledged browser for computers and laptops too. Here is a Closer look at Yahook! Axis -

You might be surprised that Facebook is buying so many things these days, which started with Instagram. Facebook recently had the famous Facebook IPO, which would have raked in the dollars for them, which they are using to gobble up some smaller companies.Expect some more.

Well, I for one am looking forward to some different browser to make a big impact, I hope that the Facebook Browser will be released soon.

Facebook Introduces Trending Articles - New Feature

It looks like Facebook has launched another new feature on the news feed called Trending Articles.Facebook has recently been involved in a lot of limelight with its Facebook IPO, Launch of the new Facebook App center and also the controversial, Pay to Highlight Feature. It has definitely been a busy week for Facebook.

Today while browsing through the news feed on Facebook, I noticed the new "Trending Articles" feature, I was surprised to see that it contained only those articles that were published by Yahoo! and hence I feel this must be a conjunction between Facebook and Yahoo! (I may be wrong).

As you can see, the articles were from Yahoo! and the Social Twist in this was that it would feature those articles which were read recently by your friends, in other words the articles that were featured were those that were most popular among your friends.

A useful feature, Google+ and Twitter have the "Trending" feature, now Facebook also has got a similar feature but definitely not of the same magnitude.

Facebook Stock Down By 12% (Morning) On First Trading After IPO

Facebook's first day as a Public company was not so good in terms of trading, it began with a 4.5% down in pre-trading and has gone as low as 12% cut (Morning), standing at the 35-36$ mark after it began at 38$ a share.

The lackluster opening of the public trading of Facebook Shares comes after Facebook’s long-awaited IPO on Friday, posting a morsel of a gain (23-cent gain) over its $38 opening share price. There have been various theories abound to why Facebook’s IPO didn’t take off, one possibility is that glitches and bugs from Nasdaq that delayed trading in the stock for 30 minutes may have stopped the momentum of the stock. It was expected to perform much better than it actually did.

Whatever Facebook does, there will be ramifications on other social networking sites as well, we could clearly see this as the stock rates of Zynga, LinkedIn, Yelp were all down.

We can only wait and see what happens in this unpredictable market.

What Not To Do On Facebook

Facebook is a great way to share information and connect with friends and family members. Some people use Facebook to play games, some use it to share interesting news and articles with their friends, and others use it to share everything.
Though some people don't know it, there is actually some information that should not be shared via social network.

1. Don't breach national security.

If you're in charge of confidential information, it's important not to share this information with your Facebook friends. An Israeli military soldier updated his Facebook status to include information on an upcoming raid the military was planning. Not only did this breach the military's security, but it put many people in danger. The Israeli officer has since been relieved of his duty.

2. Don't highlight illegal activity.

Young kids constantly post pictures of them partaking in underage drinking. Law enforcement has gotten smart and have started using the social networking site to catch criminals. A young man in Pennsylvania stole a ring from his girlfriend's cousin's house and gave it to his girlfriend. The girlfriend was unaware of the robbery and then posted a picture of the ring to Facebook. Her cousin saw the ring and sent law enforcement to the home to arrest the boyfriend.

3. Don't blast your teachers.

Some kids use Facebook as a way to express their angst against others, but it's important to remember that what you post to Facebook is not private. Taylor Cummings realized this the hard way when an update he posted to Facebook discussed how he wanted to kill his teacher. The end result: expulsion.

4. Don't blast your students.

Students aren't the only ones getting in trouble for their status updates. Teachers make the mistake of venting their frustrations with students too, but if the information falls in the wrong hands, it could have an impact on their career. Gloria Gadsden, a sociology professor, used Facebook to joke about hiring a hitman to take out one of her students. When the post landed in front of her boss, Gadsden found herself suspended.

5. Don't talk bad about your boss.

We’ve all hated our boss at one time or another, but our feelings about them should never be posted to Facebook. A young woman used Facebook to talk about how she hated her boss and referred to him as a "pervy wanker". While talking badly about someone on Facebook is not smart, it's worse when you're friends with that person. This young woman forgot she was friends with her boss on Facebook, and he responded to her comment by firing her.

6. Don't get caught calling in sick.

If you're going to call off of work pretending to be sick, don't post what you're really doing on Facebook. A bank intern left work claiming there was a "family emergency". In actuality, he really went to a costume party. Pictures of him dressed as a fairy drinking beer were posted to Facebook, and the intern lost his job.

7. Don't get creepy.

Being a creep will make you lose friends, but it can also cause you to look stupid. A young girl recently had her boyfriend's face tattooed on her arm after only dating him for one week. While this is simply a dumb move on its own, the girl then posted the picture to Facebook. The boyfriend was creeped out and dumped her via Facebook. Talk about embarrassing.

8. Don't talk about your affairs.

Unfortunately, many people have been using Facebook to cheat on their significant others. What's even sadder is that some people are dumb enough to get caught by posting status updates about it. A girl recently posted about having a great time on a date only to forget her real boyfriend could see the post. She then proceeded to break up with the boyfriend through the thread.

9. Don't talk about going on vacation.

We all love bragging about the great vacation we're about to go on, and we love posting pictures of our trip while away. The problem is that you're now telling everyone that you won't be home and that your house will be empty—and criminals love this. A woman posted status updates about leaving for vacation, only to come home from vacation to a ransacked and robbed house. Allegedly, one of her so-called Facebook friends knew where she lived and robbed the house while she was away.
So before you jump onto Facebook to make a status update, use some common sense first. If it can get you fired, put  you in danger, get you expelled or get you caught, it's not worth posting.

Facebook Testing "Pay To Highlight" Status Feature

According to the movie, The Social Network, what made Facebook cool was that it had no ads in the beginning.Well you cannot exactly call the "Pay To Highlight" feature as an ad, but it is similar as its intentions are to make more money for the website.Facebook users from New Zealand  have reported seeing the "Pay To Highlight" buttons next to their status updates.Facebook has confirmed these reports by saying that they are trying out a new feature called "Pay To Highlight" where people can pay a small price to keep their statuses in the news feed for longer and also make the status reach more number of their friends or subscribers.

Facebook Testing Pay To Highlight Status Feature

The max fee which can be levied for the "Pay To Highlight" feature is 2.00$ which can be payed either through PayPal or through Credit Card.

Personally I would never use such a feature as it may disrupt the Facebook experience of other users, they may not get updated with the latest happenings in their social network just because I payed 2.00$ to make my status  update rank high in their news feed.

This feature has not been implemented anywhere other than New Zealand and hence is in a Beta Phase of testing.I wish Facebook does not go ahead with this feature.

This has been the second big news coming from Facebook this week, the other one being the Launch of the New Facebook App Center.

Facebook to Launch App Center - Developers Monetary Opportunity

Facebook, after its recent acquisition of Instagram for 1 Billion Dollars, is now making another big move, by launching the Facebook App Center which will house all free and pay to use applications for Facebook under one roof.

The Facebook App Center is a big opportunity for Developers to make money from developing apps for the Facebook App Center marketplace. This is similar to how developers make money by selling Android or Apple applications.Previously, Developers were able to make money only through purchases made by Facebook users through the applications, as well as through advertisements. But now they can directly sell applications. It looks like the Facebook App Center would not be going head to head with the giants of application marketplace, Google Play Store and the Apple Store.

The Facebook App Center will display apps and games that people in your social network are using, just like before where you would see the games and applications which your friends were using.

Facebook employee Aaron Brady in a blog post-
Success through the App Centre is tied to the quality of an app, We use a variety of signals, such as user ratings and engagement, to determine if an app is listed in the App Centre.

You Posted That on Facebook?

Ellen Degeneres made an example of the breach of online security and privacy when she showed some embarrassing pictures of some of the people who were attending the days Ellen Show. The shocking thing was these people were not even friends of Ellen, this goes to show that Technology is a good thing, but you should be careful of how you use it.

Whenever you are posting something online, always think twice as it could come back to hurt you, it may not always be a photo, it may be a video, a status update, a tweet or a comment. So think before you act and make sure you are not in a situation where you are being asked "You Posted That on Facebook?"

Here is the video of the Ellen Show regarding the same, all the people whose pictures were shown were given an Apple iPad.

How Do Facebook Scams Work?

Even if you are an average Facebook user, you would have probably come across at-least one or two Facebook scams, such as video links with tempting titles, pictures with enticing thumbnails etc, which when clicked on take you to Scam sites or viruses. If one of your friends posted this on their wall or on your Facebook profile, does that mean that they are in on this Scam?Or is their Facebook Account hacked? No.Let me explain how these Facebook Scams work and how you or your friends are just victims and nothing more.

A Facebook Securities employee Matt Jones has produced a video in which he explains how these typical Facebook scams work. These "Scam" posts are usually made when a website asks you to copy paste something into the web browser or if you are asked to post something on your Wall or if an un-trusted Facebook App asks for your permission to post as you. Here is the video -

XSS and Facebook Scams

Interestingly enough, Matt seems to think that Internet Explorer and Firefox are not affected by most of these cross site scripting, although Google Chrome (Even Android Version) and Apple Safari Browser can easily be affected. But let that not be a reason for you to stop using whatever browser you use, as long as you are using trusted sites, you have nothing to worry.

Further, most of these Videos, Pictures which have originated from scams, require just a click from another user, or a visit to the scam site to automatically post the same link to your profile, thus the scam propagates.
