All you need to do is stop the access to your account for any application.This will ensure that none of the annoying apps can ask you to join, none of your friends can invite you to join.
To disable the Access to apps, you need to first visit the Settings page where where you need to go to the Edit Settings option and then under the Websites and Applications tab deny access to any application.
Note: Disabling Access to applications can result in trouble Liking and Sharing from certain websites of which you are a part of.
