YouTube as a Marketing Tool

Video-sharing websites were virtually nonexistent until YouTube exploded onto the scenes in 2005. Ever since debuting, millions of users have started using the website to connect with family, friends, and more recently, customers, clients, and readers.

Nearly all big name companies have Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts that allow the company to better relate to their fan base while attracting new customers. For example, one of the most popular YouTube company channels is Home Depot. While the company itself sells home improvement and construction products, the YouTube channel serves as a 'How-To' tutorial to help better guide customers on the proper way to fix or remodel their homes.

Many non-customers take note of how simple the video instructions are, and see that Home Depot has all the products needed. Since the video has provided the potential customer with new knowledge, the individual is more likely to remember Home Depot at a later date when their services are needed. This helps to bring in even more customers, all by simply uploading a few short videos.

Increasing Traffic to Websites

The same tactics can be used for anyone who is looking to increase traffic to their website. Creating a video blog (vlog) means that new readers will stumble across the video. Website owners can then direct the viewer to their website by mentioning the name at the end of the video. If that isn't enough to bring in traffic, a link can also be added to the description of the video for easy access.

YouTube also offers a 'subscribe' option which viewers can use if they would like to follow the videos on a long-term basis. This option will alert subscribers too all future videos so they can remain up-to-date on the events regarding the website. Since all vlogs tell a story, users are far more likely to come back wanting more. This leads to long-term steady traffic.

AdSense Earnings

Once a YouTube video has earned enough views, website owners can begin making a passive income from their channel. This is done through a partnership with Google AdSense and YouTube. In order to qualify, a video must be a completely original production. This means that all vlogs qualify as long as no copyrighted music or other content is included.

If the user accepts the agreement, a small advertisement will be placed on the bottom of the YouTube video. These advertisements are usually related to the video, though in some cases they may be complete random. Each time that the advertisement is clicked, the video owner will be paid a small cut of the profit.

Each click the advertisements receive only pays a few cents, but if the YouTube channel is popular, this can add up significantly over time. There been several instances where a single video goes viral and the uploader receives several thousand dollars due to AdSense. While this isn't typical, a large fan base will provide a steady income over a long period of time. Since Google AdSense never expires, users will continue to earn money as long as their video is being viewed.

While YouTube is an enjoyable place to watch videos, it's also a unique marketing tool which can lead to long-term traffic and a steady income. Since uploading a video only takes a few minutes, all website owners who are looking to increase their fan base should create their own channel and start advertising.

Settings for High Quality Videos on YouTube

When you upload a video to YouTube, you cannot always expect to get the same quality with which the video was recorded, this is due to the fact the YouTube re-sizes, converts and tweaks your videos to a certain format so that the YouTube Player can play it seamlessly.

But if you upload certain formats and sizes of videos, you can keep the 100% original quality with which the videos were shot.Here are those specifications for High Quality Videos on YouTube -
  • MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
  • 320×240 resolution (YouTube converts a 320×240 clip into 425×320)
  • MP3 audio
  • 30 frames per second
Your Video Should Have a Quality Like a professional video like the one shown below, if your camera is HD and shoots well.

Search High Resolution Videos on YouTube - How To?

Looking for a High Resolution video from YouTube to Embed in your Next Presentation? Then learn how to search for high resolution videos on YouTube direct from Google Search -
High Resolution Videos on YouTube
Type in the following search -

"Site:YouTube.Com Your Search Query Watch in High Quality"

This search query will give you the High Resolution Videos on YouTube, the reason behind this is that Google Indexes all the text in a page, so it also indexes the "Watch in High Quality" option that high resolution videos have, hence it appears in Google Search results.

But sometimes when people have recently commented on the YouTube videos with words such as Watch in High Quality, you may get results that are not high resolution, but this happening is a very small probability.

Introducing the New YouTube Player Story Board

YouTube is 'the' best site for video sharing and is a site that gets a millions of video views everyday, so to keep up with this, YouTube keeps developing the video player, adding new features, removing bugs and changing the styling of the video player.Now YouTube has come up with a new feature called the "Story Board", a feature that will allow users to easily skip to their favorite parts of a video with the help of thumbnails for every second of the video.Let me tell how this works with the help of a video, created by Digital Inspiration TV.

YouTube used to usually have just three thumbnails for a video out of which we could chose one to represent our video, but this new "Story Board" feature works a little differently.What it does is it creates a storyboard full of thumbnails for every part of a video and then when someone hovers over a part of the video on the video timeline, they will get a thumbnail of the video at that point of time in the video. With the help of this new feature, you can easily skip to any part of a video, knowing which scene you want to watch.YouTube has promised to come up with more features in 2012, we can only wait and see what they will be.Also check out How to Officially Remove YouTube Logo from the Embedded Player.

How to Embed YouTube Videos without YouTube Logo?

Embed Video without YouTube LogoDo you know that you can embed YouTube Videos without the YouTube Logo? This process is easy but it does not serve any great purpose as most people would not even notice, but anyways I will be showing you How to Embed YouTube Videos without YouTube Logo.

Here I have Embedded the same video twice, one with the YouTube Logo attached to it, the other without.

To Remove the YouTube Logo from the Video

YouTube has two types of code that you can embed into your Blog or Website, In this Technology Blog, I use the Iframe Version so I will show that first -

1)Iframe code -
<iframe width="500" height="300"
  src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/abc?modestbranding=1"
  frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>
</iframe>
2)Object Code Version -
<object width="500" height="314"> <param name="movie"
 value="http://www.youtube.com/v/abc?version=3&rel=0&modestbranding=1">
 </param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
 <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>
  <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="300"
   src="http://www.youtube.com/v/abc?version=3&rel=0&modestbranding=1"
   allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true">
  </embed>
</object>
If you notice carefully, I have added a piece of code to each of the above shown codes to remove the YouTube Logo from the Videos.Did you find it? Here it is -
modestbranding=1

All you need to do is add that piece of code shown above to the end of the url of the Video in the video codes.

The reason for the YouTube Logo being installed in the player is to help people use the YouTube features like, Liking a Video, Rating the Video, Sharing Etc which can only be done on YouTube and not from the Embedded player.Just a click on the YouTube Logo takes you to the Video Page where you can do all that.
But most people never click on the YouTube Logo to go the Video Page, so it is not of a great necessity.
